DATE: Sunday, 22nd July 2023
DURATION: Half Day
COST: $275 USD for attendees, $195 USD for students
LOCATION: Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre

This workshop is for practitioners, academics and pracademics who are interesting in exploring and learning about how to practically boost and foster job crafting at an individual, team and organisational level using empirically informed exercises and activities.

Participants will leave this interactive workshop with a treasure-trove of resources and practical ideas about how to foster job crafting within workplaces. The session will be delivered by Rob Baker, author of Personalization at Work [1] and a job crafting specialist, who has worked with hundreds of people, ranging from cleaners to CEOs to personalise their approach to work and working.

Job Crafting is focused on enabling and encouraging individuals to maximise their diverse talents, strengths and experiences in their work. The practice of job crafting is an established and growing field of academic study [2], yet to date many leaders are not familiar with the concept, and if they are, they struggle with ideas of how to practically apply job crafting within their organisation[3].

This workshop will share case studies from early job crafting adopters which participants can learn from and adapt and will provide practical evidence-based guides and activities that can be used. As well as sharing successes, Rob will share mistakes and missteps he has made, and seen other make, in delivering job crafting interventions.

The workshops will explore:

  • how to enable people to bring their whole and best selves to work each day to help people and organisations thrive;

  • research and ideas about how job crafting as a field is developing;

  • the business case for job crafting and how to pitch this concept to leaders within organisations;

  • practical activities, exercises and templates that can be used with teams and organisations; and

  • practical tools to effectively structure and set personal job crafting goals.
