THE HUMAN GAP:  WHAT WE KNOW AND WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO ADDRESS THE WORLD'S CRISES

DATE: Thursday, 20th July 2023
DURATION: Half Day
COST: $275 USD for attendees, $195 USD for students
LOCATION: Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre

A huge gap persists between what we know needs to happen in our world to address the crises that face us as humans . . . and the actions that are in fact taken to address these problems.

Why does this gap persist? And what can we do about it?

From the early struggles against apartheid in South Africa to the present day, Dr. Mamphela Ramphele has worked to close that gap as a political activist, medical doctor, President of the University of Cape Town, Managing Director of the World Bank, Founder of Reimagine South Africa, and now co-President of the Club of Rome.

Gaps between knowing and doing also occur inside people. So Dr. Ramphele will be assisted by Rick Hanson for clinical insights into the minds and brains of individuals that could have implications for similar processes at the societal scale.

She will also explore the deep wisdom in the African culture of Ubuntu - “I am because you are” - which shows us how to liberate the future from the prison of the past, and enable the emergence of a new human consciousness leading to civilizations with compassion and justice at their heart.

This workshop will be participatory, direct, experiential - and very useful. It’s for anyone wishing to turn their own thoughts into deeds, and to help others to do this in the wider world.
